The Kingston Frontenacs will host a Pride Night in the new year. The team unveiled special themed jerseys yesterday, which players will wear during their game against Oshawa on January 26th.
“Hockey fans are hockey fans, and we want to ensure that our games are a place where our fans are free and safe to cheer regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation,” said Justin Chenier, Executive Director of Business Operations with the Kingston Frontenacs.
As a woman who is engaged to a woman, I couldn’t be happier about this! As much as I would love to go about my day and never be affected by some of the hate that crosses my path because of my sexual orientation, that is simply not my reality. Organizations like the Kingston Frontenacs, who step up and join the fight against homo/transphobia, are actively part of the solution. THANK YOU!
The special pride jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Pride Kingston. Perhaps it’s time to buy myself a new jersey?!
