Yesterday was an emotional day. I was shocked when I heard the news just after 8AM that Gord Downie had passed away. Even though we all knew it was coming, it didn’t make the sting less painful. I cried on the radio. I listened to Tragically Hip tunes. Then it was time to join other Kingstonians in market square to say goodbye.
After spending some time in market square at the impromptu vigil, I decided to see if I could get a ticket at the Screening Room for Long Time Running, the Hip documentary that was filmed during their final tour. My partner and I arrived at the theatre to find out there were three tickets left. We purchased two and spent the next couple of hours reminiscing about the man and the music.
So many great memories, from back in the 80’s until today, and continuing on through the music of The Tragically Hip. Speaking of the 80’s, check this out. 😉
RIP Gord Downie. Gone but not forgotten.
