Before you read too much into the headline of this blog, these are NOT my words (that’s for sure!!). This is a billboard in North Carolina.
Women are planning to protest the billboard, saying the message is a slam on gender equality. And it is—- but not just for women, for men too.
I am so tired of hearing people say, “Real men do this or real women do that.”
How about this: we are all real humans! They say real women make great sandwiches. Well, I’m a real woman and my sandwiches are mediocre at best!
The truth is, real men are strong and they are weak. Real men hide their emotions and real men cry. Real men go to work and real men stay home with the kids. Real women are shy, opinionated, short and tall. Real women are caring and loving and selfish.
Being ‘real’ isn’t about acting or feeling the way you are told to act/feel based on your gender, it’s about living your life in an authentic way and for me anyway, treating others with kindness and having some fun along the way! (Notice I am not in the kitchen for any of these photos. ;))
