We are in for a pretty cool treat on Friday if the sky’s are clear. There will be 3 separate amazing events. First is the FULL SNOW MOON. Each month’s full moon has a name February’s is THE SNOW MOON”, Then at about 5:30 pm the PENUMBRAL Eclipse starts and will last for over 4 hours. You won’t see the moon disappear or have a bite taken out of it. When it’s a PENUMBRAL Eclipse you will notice a dark shadow cast on the Moon’s surface with it’s peak happening around 7:43PM.
If that isn’t enough sky watching for you, there’s more. The New Year Comet will make it’s closest approach to the Earth when it fly’s by. It’s not close to us 7.4 Million Miles away, but if it’s clear you will see it’s blue-green head and fanned out tail with just binoculars! You can spot the New year Comet around 10pm in the Western horizon.
Let’s hope the sky’s are clear!
