After leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to the 3rd-best record in the NHL, head coach John Tortorella was tapped for this weekend’s NHL All-Star game. Unfortunately, one of his dogs has fallen gravely ill and he’s made the decision to skip the All-Star game to take care of it. The dog belongs to his son, who is a U.S. Army Ranger stationed abroad.
As grouchy as he can appear at times, it’s easy to empathize with Tortella here. Who hasn’t had a pet they’d do just about anything for?
