Canadian money is about to get in touch with its feminine side.
Five historical figures were on the short list to be the first Canadian woman on a banknote.
The decision was made this morning and the winner is………Viola Desmond!
Desmond has often been referred to as ‘Canada’s Rosa Parks’ (even though her famed incident came 9 years before Parks’). She was a beautician and businesswoman, but was best known for her refusal to accept racial segregation in a Nova Scotia movie theatre. You might remember her story from Heritage Minutes.
