You had to wonder how Saturday Night Live was going to tackle one of the country’s most tumultuous weeks in decades. As it turns out, they started off by putting the jokes aside and kicking off with one of the most unique intros in the show’s history.
Cast member Kate McKinnon, dressed as her Hillary Clinton character, combined the week’s political events with the recent death of Leonard Cohen for a pretty jaw-dropping rendition of Hallelujah. Can’t say I saw this coming…
It continued with an equally powerful monologue from host Dave Chappelle.
Personally, I thought they got the tone right at a time when it’s hard to know how to approach the situation. Let me know what you think!
