It’s not every day a film crew comes to Kingston!
The last time I remember a film crew being in Kingston was in 2014 for Crimson Peak.
Crews are in town this week filming for a new mini-series called Alias Grace.
It’s based on the book of the same name by Margaret Atwood.
A lot of the filming is happening along King Street in Kingston, including around Kingston Penitentiary, and that means some road closures.
Here’s what you need to know:
King Street from Sir John A Macdonald to Gardeners Street
Closed Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-11pm
WILL be open during rush hours
King Street closed from William to Earl
Closed Thursday and Friday 9am-8pm
WILL be open during rush hours and before and during the Remembrance Day Civic Ceremony
Now for a little more about Alias Grace…
Will any of these actors be in Kingston for the filming? No idea. But several Kingstonians will be on set as extras! And you never know what might come from that… maybe some of them will get bigger roles and become famous…
If you want to check out the series when it’s complete, and maybe catch a glimpse of Kingston (or just King Street dressed in dirt), the mini-series Alias Grace will air on the CBC and will also be available to stream on Netflix.
