It was kind of a big council meeting last night at city hall!
Here’s what you missed…
1) The Commemorative Brick
After The Tragically Hip’s final show on the Man Machine Poem Tour at the KRC, where 25,000 people gathered in Kingston’s Market Square to watch on the big screen and thousands of people across the country watched from home, our weekend dude Ben McLean had an idea.
Why not put a commemorative brick in Market Square?
A lot of you guys seemed to support the idea and it eventually ended up on the council agenda!
Last night it got FINAL approval, so it’ll be going ahead after consultation from the public on what the commemorative stone should look like.
2) Capitol Condo Project
This has been one of the more controversial topics in Kingston since it was first proposed last year.
A high rise condo development in downtown Kingston between Queen and Princess at the location of the former Capitol Theatre.
After several public meetings and amendments, it was put to a final vote at Council last night and passed.
In8 Developments plans to start construction in early 2017.
