It’s hard to believe it was one month ago today that 25,000 people gathered in Kingston’s Market Square to celebrate The Tragically Hip and watch the final show on the Man Machine Poem tour.
The news of Gord Downie battling brain cancer prompted many people to give generously to support brain cancer research.
The amount of money raised climbed higher with every show on the Man Machine Poem tour and now it’s reached a milestone.
The Canadian Cancer Society and the Sunnybrook Foundation say the Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem tour has raised more than $1 million for brain cancer research in Canada.
That’s just incredible.
Here’s the break down…
The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Reserach at Sunnybrook Hospital has received $800,000 in donations.
The Canadian Cancer Society has received $400,000, which will go towards Canadian Cancer Trials Group – it’s based out of Kingston and tests new ways to treat or manage cancer.
I think the only thing to say now is THANK YOU to everyone who made a donation!
