That night in Kingston… 08/20/16 was one for the history books!
I think we’re all going to remember where we were when The Tragically Hip played the final show on their Man Machine Poem tour.
I truly don’t believe this will be the end for The Tragically Hip, but it was still amazing to see all the support Canada had for the Hip.
Thousands of people were in downtown Kingston – reports are saying 6,000 at the KRC and 25,000 in the square.
Despite the massive crowd, everyone seems fairly well-behaved!
The only major incident Kingston Police have reported so far, happened early in the afternoon.
Paramedics are calling the event an overwhelming success.
They saw about 50 patients, but only 10 had to be taken to hospital.
Most were for minor things and heat-related issues.
It truly seemed like everyone in Canada was united on Saturday night to watch the concert.
The CBC says 11.7 million people watched the live stream.
It took a huge team of dedicated individuals to make this event a success – THANK YOU to all the people behind the planning and execution, along with the police, paramedics, bus drivers, events staff, and everyone else who made this event run smoothly.
I think it truly brought out the best of Kingston.
Did anyone else catch Prime Minister Justin Trudeau walking downtown before the show?
And one more thing, I think this Toronto City Councillor may be onto something…
