Did you know that there is an entire website dedicated to MLB plate songs?
I discovered this after attending my first Blue Jays game recently. I love being at sporting events because the experience is entirely different from watching a game on television. One of the things I’d been missing out on was hearing what songs play when the Jays walk up to the plate.
When players have the right song, it can definitely pump up the crowd. Like when Michael Saunders walked up to the plate to this classic rap song:
I referenced the MLB Plate Music website and apparently three of the Jays are using the most popular songs this season:
I dont’ actually know ANY of these songs. It seems like MLB players like to use Rap/Hip Hop songs for their plate music most of the time.
But there are some exceptions.
For example, Kevin Pillar is into a popular pop song:
Same goes for Troy Tulowitzki…
Although the Blue Jays don’t seem to be the best at choosing unique songs, Josh Reddick from the LA Dodgers gets my vote for best walk up song (I wonder if this was a joke, his teammates picked it for him, or if he really wanted this to be his song):
But what I want to know is where’s the classic rock?! That’s some of the best pump up music of all time!
If you were a baseball player, what song would you use?
