On my walk to work this morning, I said ‘good morning’ to someone and I didn’t get the return ‘good morning’.
I don’t go about saying hello to everyone I pass on the street but if I make eye contact with someone and they seem friendly enough, a ‘good morning’ is just a natural thing for me to do.
It could be that she didn’t hear me. Perhaps she was thrown off because strangers don’t typically say hello anymore. Is it a generational thing? I am from a small town and you don’t pass people as often so saying hi is easy but in a city, it’s impossible to say good morning to everyone.
How often do you smile and verbally acknowledge a stranger? If your answer is never, do you like it when other people do it or do you wish they would leave you alone?
