Kingston Rowers Heading To Brazil Kingston, ON, Canada / 96.3 Big FM Jenn Ferguson June 29, 2016 07:27 am BIG on Twitter BIG on Facebook BIG on Soundcloud LISTEN LIVE! Canada has announced the 26-member Olympic rowing team headed to Brazil to compete in the 2016 games, and you’ll likely recognize some of the names from Kingston. Will Crothers, Nick Pratt and Rob Gibson are on the roster. They’ll be joined by Brockville’s Conlin McCabe and coach Phil Marshall. Crothers, Gibson and McCabe rowed together in the Men’s 8 at the 2012 games when they came home bearing silver medals. I can still remember watching this on the edge of my seat… This time, the guys won’t all be rowing together. Canada killed the men’s eight program after London in order to spread the resources over a number of smaller boats (more here). In Brazil, we’ll see Crothers and McCabe in the Men’s Four, Pratt in the Lightweight Four, and Gibson in Quadruple Sculls. Here’s a glimpse into some of their training for the 2012 games… By the way, if you’re hoping to catch some of the action, the rowing competition will take place Aug 6-14.
