Vladimir Putin wants to make “Star Trek” style teleportation a reality in the next 20 years. The Russian government, Kremlin, has just backed a research program to make Trekkie dreams come true. The $2.1-trillion plan would be finished by 2035.
It’s not just teleportation either – these guys are seriously considering some ambitious endeavors — nicer way of saying “crazy crap.” On top of teleportation they’d want to create a Russian computer language and create neural interfacing (which is just a fancy way of saying connecting a human’s brain to a computer). Creepy.
It might not be that crazy though. Scientist at Delft University of Technology were able to teleport info encoded into particles between two spots, three meters apart with 100% reliability. That’s almost like teleporting Spock onto Calder II right?
The program seems like its part of Putin’s new plan to help boost Russia’s IT sector. The United States also feels like Russia is using its computer talent to create a state-sponsored hacking and cyber-warfare program. It was more fun when all they wanted to do was teleport Star Trek characters.
