You could have watched every single second of UFC 198 Saturday night but you still wouldn’t have seen the punch of the weekend. That’s because – without a doubt – THE smack came in yesterday’s Blue Jays /Rangers game.
Now you may recall the two teams hadn’t been fans of each other ever since outfielder Jose Bautista’s bat-flipping antics in Game 5 of the ALDS last season. Well, the Rangers exacted a little revenge yesterday—okay a lot actually – when they hit Bautista back yesterday—twice.
First, it was Rangers pitcher Matt Bush plunked Bautista to lead off the eighth inning of and then it was Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor who took more than a little offense to Bautista’s late slide into second in breaking up a double play. The two got into a shoving match that ended with Odor landing one of the most solid punches of the season—squarely to the left jaw of Bautista knocking off his helmet and glasses.
The Rangers won the game 7-6, but the judges didn’t score the Bautista-Odor fight anywhere near that close.
