Prince was well known as a musical genius. But like every other entertainer, he gave acting a try. Here are some of the roles we remember him in, courtesy of Us Weekly:
“Purple Rain,” 1984 – This was the first time we saw Prince as an actor. As much as we love the music – he won an Oscar for the soundtrack – his thespianism left a LOT to be desired.
“Under the Cherry Moon,” 1986 – Prince not only played Christopher Tracy in this film, he also directed it. What stands out to me is how perfectly his heels were aligned when he got shot.
“Batman,” 1989 – While Prince wrote “Purple Rain” and “Under the Cherry Moon,” this was the first movie he scored without writing it.
“Graffiti Bridge,” 1990 – In this sequel to “Purple Rain,” he faces off – again – against Morris Day. We also met a young Tevin Campbell.
“The New Girl,” 2014 – He played himself on the episode that aired after the Super Bowl that year. His character gave Zooey Deschanel’s character relationship advice before they paired up for a memorable duet. It came about because he was such a huge fan of the show.
