Purchased Recalled Frozen Fruit? There’s A Vaccine For That Kingston, ON, Canada / 96.3 Big FM Jenn Ferguson April 19, 2016 07:52 am BIG on Twitter BIG on Facebook BIG on Soundcloud LISTEN LIVE! (Source: CFIA) If you were one of the unfortunate people who had recalled frozen berry mix in your freezer, you could be eligible for a free vaccine – which is probably a good idea. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled Nature’s Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend because it’s been linked to Hepatitis A – 13 cases in total, 9 in Ontario. It was sold exclusively at Costcos in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The Public Health Agency of Canada says if you were “exposed” to the product… which I think means if you ate it… or if you are showing symptoms of Hepatitis A, get yourself to a doctor. Symptoms may include fever, low appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches and jaundice. Apparently Costo is also offering free vaccinations for anyone affected by the recall. I don’t know if that means they’re going to sit there with a nurse ready to give you a needle, or if they give you a coupon or something to take to your doctor, but it’s happening. And if you did eat some of those frozen berries, it’s probably a good idea to take advantage of it. Heptatisis A is serious stuff – it causes inflammation of the liver and nobody wants that.
