Now here’s a musical comeback we hadn’t been expecting – 80s favourite Rick Astley has releases a brand new single.
Rick – best known for the 1987 chart-topper Never Gonna Give You Up (and the ‘Rick-Rolling’ legend) hasn’t released a song for over a decade – and even announced his ‘retirement’ from music 23 years ago when he was just 27.
But now, as the age of 50, he has returned with the track ‘Keep Singing’. Ricks revealed that he originally took a step back from the industry after becoming disillusioned with it. He went on to explain that it was turning 50 which prompted him to release the new track, saying ‘It was a big milestone.
He got back in the studio and friends were telling him the material he was working on was pretty good. ‘So he decided to go for it.’ Rick’s also got a new album, called 50. It’s out on June 17 – and there’s no denying his fans will be thrilled to see him back with new material
Although to be honest he hasn’t been nearly as quiet as you might think – having released the album Portrait in 2005, which peaked at number 26 in the charts.
And he’s still got it!
