It’s kinda scary when you buy something at the grocery store thinking it’s one thing – only to find out later that it is something completely different. The latest jaw dropper is parmesan cheese.
If you’re a fan of the shredded parmesan cheese you find on store shelves, you may be channeling your inner woodpecker. Bloomberg News has revealed that shredded parmesan from Whole Foods, Walmart and Kraft all contained cellulose, an anti-clumping agent made from wood pulp.
We’re talking anywhere from 4 – 7% of that so-called ‘cheese’ is actually wood. The worst part? It’s apparently legal and ‘safe’ to ingest.
