We’ve got a buyer for the Marine Museum and it’s a name you’ll likely recognize.
He owns several properties in Kingston, the most infamous being 663 Princess Street – the student apartment building that went up in flames in December 2013.
Yes, I’m bringing up the midtown inferno…
Jay Patry is now the owner of the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes and the property it is on.
It’s 3.8 acres of land and Patry was the highest bidder.
He’s paying 3.2 million for it.
You may remember the City of Kingston chose not to purchase the property from the federal government because it would cost too much to clean up.
Due to contamination, it could cost about $23 million.
According to the Whig, Patry plans to work with the city and museum to form a partnership and keep the Marine Museum at the site.
What do you think about a piece of Kingston’s waterfront being used to build a high-rise building? Are you hoping the Marine Museum stays at the site and is re-vamped?
